The photographer Sandra Maier travelled in 2015/2016 during her pregnancy from Western Europe to the Strait of Hormuz at the Persian Gulf. That’s were you find the „Red Factory“ on the Island Hormuz – named so by Artist Alireza Memariani from Teheran (@alireza_memariani ) – which inspired her to do this work. .
The soil of the island is all red. The red that colored the ocean on the photographs is the red soil which is pulverized by the Iranian factory and sold as rouge (make-up) to the beauty industry of France and Italy. From dust to body. The factory is now closed. @gesichtet.li (Sandra Maier)
